Changing File Associations

Question:
How do I change the program associated with a particular file type?
Answer:
To change the program associated with a particular file type, please save the file to your computer and perform the following steps:
    Microsoft Windows 7 
    1. Click Start
    2. Open Control Panel
    3. Change view by to CATEGORIES
    4. Select Programs
    5. Choose Default Programs
    6. Select Associate a file type or protocol with a program
    7. Locate the file type or protocol that you want to set default program for
    8. Select the file type
    9. Click Change Program in the upper-right
    10. Choose the desired program (For example, Windows Explorer)
    11. Click OK
    12. Click Close
    Microsoft Windows 8 
    1. Open the Charm bar by moving cursor to upper-right corner (on touch-screen, swipe in from right edge of screen)
    2. Click Search
    3. Type default in the search box
    4. Choose Default Programs
    5. Select Associate a file type or protocol with a program
    6. Locate the file type or protocol that you want to set default program for
    7. Select the file type
    8. Click Change Program in the upper-right
    9. Click More Options
    10. Click the desired program (For example, Windows Explorer)
    11. Click Close
    Microsoft Windows 10 
    1. Click the Windows Start menu
    2. Click Settings
    3. Select System
    4. Select Default apps
    5. Select Set defaults by app
    6. Select the program
    7. Click on Set this program as default
    Other Windows Methods 
    1. Right-click on the file
    2. Click Properties
    3. Click Change
    4. Click the desired program (For example, Windows Explorer)
    5. Click OK
    6. Click Apply
    7. Click OK
    Apple Macintosh 
    Method 1 
    1. Press Control + click on the file
    2. Select Get Info
    3. Select Open With
    4. Select the program required to open the file
    5. Click Change All
    6. Click Continue in the Alert window
    7. Close the window
    Method 2 
    1. Press Control + click on the file and release
    2. Press and hold the Option button
    3. Select the appropriate program under Always open with...
